From a citywide run to art, food and cultural celebrations, this weekend offers plenty of ways to get out and explore Los Angeles. The annual Los Angeles Marathon brings thousands of runners from Dodger Stadium to Century City, while Compton artist Mr. Wash celebrates the release of his new book with a barbecue and conversation at his studio. Food lovers can track down Levain’s limited-edition cookie milk matcha collaboration with Montauk General across the city, and guests along the coast can watch artist Renée Levin create a live mural at the Malibu Beach Inn. Meanwhile, the Skirball Cultural Center hosts a lively afternoon honoring Persian Jewish culture with music, tea service and family-friendly activities.

Los Angeles Marathon — March 8

The annual Los Angeles Marathon returns on March 8 as thousands of runners take on the iconic course stretching from Dodger Stadium to Avenue of the Stars in Century City. Hosted by The McCourt Foundation, the citywide race draws elite athletes, casual runners and enthusiastic spectators for one of L.A.’s most recognizable sporting events. After crossing the finish line, participants can celebrate and recover at a special post-marathon gathering hosted by fashion brand Represent, featuring music, food and other experiences for runners and supporters alike.

Mr. Wash New Book Celebration — March 7

The Compton-based artist and criminal justice advocate Mr. Wash celebrates the release of his new book Artists in Space with a community gathering that blends art, conversation and barbecue. Guests will have the chance to tour the studio, pick up a copy of the book and hear a discussion featuring Wash alongside Patrisse Cullors and Evan Pricco. The event offers a relaxed, community-focused way to engage with Wash’s work and the ideas behind his latest project.

Levain x Montauk General Collaboration — March 6-8

Levain Bakery teams up with Montauk General for a limited-time collaboration that puts a creative spin on matcha. The special drink blends Montauk General’s signature matcha with “cookie milk” infused from Levain’s white chocolate macadamia cookies, finished with salted sweet cream and a cookie crumble topping. The treat rolls out across Levain’s Los Angeles locations starting March 6 in Beverly Hills, followed by Venice on March 7 and Larchmont on March 8.

From Iran to Los Angeles: Honoring Persian Jewish Culture and Community at Skirball Cultural Center — March 8

Celebrate the rich heritage of Los Angeles’s Persian Jewish community at Skirball Cultural Center with From Iran to Los Angeles: Honoring Persian Jewish Culture and Community. Renée Levin Live Mural Painting at Malibu Beach Inn — March 7-10

Artist-in-residence Renée Levin brings a live creative process to the Malibu Beach Inn with a mural inspired by a single morning glory she spotted blooming in the Palisades one year after the fire. Painting on site over several days, Levin transforms that moment of resilience into a large-scale work that guests can watch unfold in real time. The live mural offers visitors a rare glimpse into the artist’s process while reflecting on renewal, memory and the quiet power of nature along the Malibu coast.
