Los Angeles is packed with high-energy events this weekend, from downtown’s wildly creative Red Bull Soapbox Race to Long Beach Pride celebrations along the waterfront. Families can head to Lafayette Park for a free community health fair, while documentary fans can catch screenings and filmmaker conversations at Day of Black Docs. Over at The Grove, Gatorade’s Beat Real Life activation adds obstacle courses, photo moments and flavor tastings to the weekend lineup.

Red Bull Soapbox Race Los Angeles — May 16

Thirty-two teams race downhill in wildly creative, Hollywood-inspired soapbox cars as Red Bull brings its signature competition back to downtown Los Angeles. Expect elaborate costumes, over-the-top builds and plenty of chaos as crews battle for speed, style and bragging rights in one of the city’s most entertaining spectator events.

DTLA Spring Health Fair at Lafayette Park — May 16

My Community Health Fair returns to Lafayette Park for its fourth annual DTLA Spring Health Fair, offering a full day of free wellness services and community programming. Running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the all-ages event features health screenings, eye and dental exams, educational workshops and access to local resources focused on improving community health and preventative care.

Gatorade’s Beat Real Life at The Grove — May 15-16

Gatorade brings its interactive Beat Real Life experience to The Grove for a two-day pop-up centered on competition, movement and recovery. Guests can test their skills on an obstacle course, explore immersive photo moments and sample new Gatorade flavors throughout the high-energy activation.

Long Beach Pride — May 15-17

Long Beach Pride returns with a full weekend of celebrations, beginning with Teen Pride on May 15 and continuing with the official festival at Marina Green Park on May 16 and 17. The annual event features live entertainment, community programming, cultural experiences and a Pride parade on Sunday as thousands gather along the waterfront to celebrate LGBTQ+ culture and community.

Day of Black Docs — May 16

The 19th annual Day of Black Docs returns with a lineup of documentary screenings spotlighting the work of Black filmmakers from across the industry. Presented as a fundraiser for BADWest, the event also includes filmmaker conversations, panel discussions and Q&As designed to celebrate and support Black voices in documentary storytelling.
