Los Angeles magazine's guide to having a great weekend

Los Angeles has no shortage of ways to spend the weekend, and this one’s packed with everything from pop spectacle to playful curiosity. Families can dive into storytelling and hands-on fun at the Los Angeles Kids Book Festival, while feline fans get their fix at the Natural History Museum’s Catio Lounge, complete with adoptable cats. Fashion hunters can sift through rare finds at the Pickwick Vintage Show, and art lovers will find experimental performances at the Getty’s Ever Present: Transa. For a high-energy finale, the Jonas Brothers light up the Intuit Dome with a show that’s as much about nostalgia as it is about new memories.

Natural History Museum Catio Lounge — Sept. 6–7
The Natural History Museum is inviting cat lovers to step into the Fierce! Catio Lounge, a playful companion to its “Fierce! The Story of Cats” exhibition. On select dates in September, guests can spend 15 minutes with adoptable cats and kittens from local partners including Annenberg PetSpace, L.A. Animal Services, and Stray Cat Alliance. Adoption isn’t required, but cuddles are encouraged — and with the lounge designed as both an educational and heartwarming experience, it’s the perfect stop for anyone curious about LA’s feline friends.
